Well something very exciting happened last week! Well very exciting for me anyway!

If you have been following along, you would know that I have been loving cooking up recipes from the Jamie Oliver "Save with Jamie" Recipe book I borrowed from the library. It's a recipe book that focused on whole animal cooking, creative use of leftovers, reducing food waste and just amazing flavours.

Especially the Lamb.
The Punchy Crunchy Lamb Noodle Salad (find here) was just so good. The zesty dressing is just the thing for a hot summer night.
And the Mothership Sunday Roast Lamb. With an amazing Mint Sauce, that has brought back childhood memories and makes me oh so delighted that our mint pot is now blooming it's head off.

The recipe book was borrowed and re-borrowed from the library. With pages looking well loved and some sauce splatters on pages. If your a home cook, you will know what I mean. But eventually the librarian looked over his glasses and said "it will need to be returned". Across this time, I have been scouring thrift and second hand book shops in the hope of finding my own copy. I found a copy of every other Jamie Oliver cook book, but not the one I was after. I could photocopy off the recipes I really wanted. But it's just not the same as a real book.

I made Maggie Beers LAMB SHOULDER POT-ROASTED WITH GARLIC. With Spring Lamb from our Adelaide Hills family farm, Peppermint Ridge Farm Co.

I have been a lifetime fan of Maggie Beer. Growing up in South Australia in the 80’s and 90’s, Maggie Beer was a name connected with Barossa farm fresh food.

For my 30th Birthday I was gifted Maggie’s beautiful linen bound “Maggie’s Harvest” recipe book, by my parents. With a personal inscription from Maggie Beer. The older I grow, the more I grow to value just how special this recipe book is.

I grew up in a family of country cooks. Cooking from scratch. Preserving and making jams. I think my love of food is genetic. As well as been nutured by being raised in a family who valued time around a family table sharing a home cooked meal.

On Sunday evening I had a hankering for something warming, something beef and something that would go fab with the Sourdough Bread Rolls I picked up from Basket Range Baker at the Adelaide Showground Farmers Market on Sunday morning.

Sloppy Joes is an American classic that I have heard of many times. But never actually made it. I chose Nagi from Recipe Tin Eats recipe as it had 5 stars and I find the flavour in her recipes so good. Well, after I started cooking the smell just took my breath away. And when I took a bite, I truly thought “where have you been all my life”.

This week I made Jamie Oliver’s PUNCHY CRUNCHY LAMB NOODLE SALAD.

I had been craving a zesty noodle salad since last summer. And this totally hit the spot. I was so delighted to have leftovers for lunch!

Jamie Olivers Recipe called for Roast Lamb leftovers. However I cooked some Lamb Shanks in the slow cooker and they were a perfect match with this delicious salad too.

Jamie Olivers energy is just so positive and uplifting. And I can feel his vibe when reading his recipe books.

Yesterday at the Adelaide Hills Farmers Market I was looking forwards to stocking up on lemons from Ruth’s Yerelina Farms stall. Plus bluegum honey from As Sweet as Honey. As I had a few recipes in mind to prepare for our family. I also purchased some lovely Lowan Park Produce Pastured Chicken Drumettes, which were delicious in a lemon and homegrown thyme marinade.

With a nutrition boost of beef bone broth, made with grass fed beef bones from our farm. My Retro Curried Sausages has so much nourishing winter veg, in a beautiful warming curry sauce. Master Farmer walked into the kitchen monday evening asking what was for tea. I said beef tacos “oh YUM Mum” was his reply.

I have been using a new homemade taco seasoning recipe of late, which I have really liked better than my last one. So here it is for you to share and enjoy too. The thing I love about this meal is. Two nights meals from one cook.
