Top 3 Tips : Making school holiday meals feel easy.
If there is one thing I know for sure, kids eat more during the school holidays. And definitely during the cold depths of winter.
Whether it is getting outside with adventures to explore the forest, bike rides on the Amy Gillett Bike Track, camping trips gathered around a cosy campfire, meet ups with school mates at the local playground and bike track, where a packed picnic lunch is essential.
Or cosy days winter school holidays indoors filled with puzzles, drawing and painting, making lego, writing letters to loved ones or reading a really great book.
We all just feel colder with that chill into our bones, and hungrier in winter.
Protein is one of the best sources to really fulfil that hunger with quality nourishment that will fill you and your kids up. And help avoid the constant snacking on those pre-packaged snacks that we all want to avoid.
Here are my Top 3 tips for making meals easy in the school holidays. With a quality protein that you can feel confident will help stave off the munchies from your kids for that little bit longer.
Top 3 Tips : Making school holiday meals feel easy
Sausages, Burgers and Mince. Sausages and Burgers are always a winner with kids. And Beef Mince can great a million meals that your kids will love. And you can stretch further with lentils or carbs. Our No Numbers Grass Fed Beef Sausages are your firm favorites at our Farmers Markets. And Master Farmer is always a little annoyed when I come home and tell him that I have sold all the sausages at the Farmers Markets! As he loves them so much. Burgers are a meal requiring very little thought or effort, but always hit the spot with our kids. Favourite Mince Meals for our family include burritos, shepherds pie and sausage rolls.
Slow Cooked Shredded Beef for Taco Night. Anything Mexican is a winner with our kids. Slow cooked beef brisket shredded with lettuce, cucumber, tomato and grated cheese topped with salsa always makes for a delicious meal. Mexican Burrito Rice Bowls, Burrito Boats, Loaded Nachos, are just a few of our kid approved Taco Night meals. Grass Fed Beef Ribs slow cooked or a shredded rump roast are also a favourite Taco Night favourite that our kids love. And I am sure your kids will love too.
Bone Broth. Bone Broth is the base of any wonderful winter soup (minestrone, pumpkin or beef and veggie soup). Bone broth is also so good for boosting immunity at this time of year with all the winter lurgy about. And you just want to do all you can to boost your kids chances of staying as well as they can. And side stepping the latest winter virus that is doing the rounds.
