Hello Spring Garden
As I type it has just started a little sprinkle of rain. Which I really wasn’t expecting. The washing line is heaving with washing. But I don’t mind at all. It will dry all in good time. What I am excited about is spring. And the bursting into life of our Spring Garden. And our kids have even picked their first red ripe strawberries! Yum! We have set up wicking pots from Adelaide Hills Veggie Gardens for some berries. And so far, they are going very well.
Here are some of my favourite new flowers and blossoms
Poppies.
First Pierre de Ronsard Rose.
Snowball bush turned flowers from green to white (Viburnum).
Bees on the lavender.
First Just Joey Rose.
First Sunflowers popping up. Possibly a Giant Russian Sunflower. I couldn’t be sure. It will be beautiful in anycase.
BIRD COUNT
Master Farmer and I have been joining in with the Bird Count that is on this week. It has really been the most joyful part of our day. A focused. Quiet moment. Out in our garden together. Hunting for birds. Finding suprises and hearing calls that we don’t really know what they are. Being curious about birds together. It’s been such a blessing.
Superb Fairy Wrens, Wattle Birds, Galahs, Sulfur Crested Cockatoos, New Holland Honeeaters, Magpies. Some parrots with their joyful call that moved so quickly, all we could see was green. And even a mopoke a few times in the middle of the night.
We have always loved noticing, watching and enjoying birds in our garden. But I think this is a hobby that we will be sinking deeper into.
I really think it is the being in the moment that has made me feel so great. 20 minutes of focused connecting with nature. I have just felt so much better afterwards.
If you have 20 minutes, I encourage you to download the app and get in a Bird Count session yourself. You won’t regret it.
Love to you all, Misses Farmer X
