Our family has been farming at Rockleigh in the Adelaide Hills for 5 generations.
Our farm has been serving our customers with our Grass Fed Beef and Grass Fed Spring Lamb for more than 2 years. Grass Fed Beef and Lamb BY THE CUT at Adelaide Hills Farmers Market and Adelaide Showground Farmers Market. Beef and Lamb Boxes through our website (plus Farmer to Fridge) and at the Farmers Markets.

We do not take orders or payment through Messenger, Whats App or any other messaging apps
Sadly, we have heard about scams.
Scams where ads pop up on Facebook promising a ripper deal on farm direct meat. Frankly, a too much of a ripper of a deal.
We know that photos from real farmers are being copied and used to scam well intending customers out of their hard earned money.
From what I understand, the scammers have been using facebook ads with photos of farm fresh meat. Often with a name like or similar to a thriving farm business (Or an online platform for farmers to legitimately connect with and sell direct to consumer). Then ask you to order through private messaging on facebook. Then often swap to whats app. With high pressure tactics like “order and pay today to get it delivered this week”.
There may be some farms where you can order meat and receive your farm direct meat immediately.
However this is not the case for most small farms.
There will be a wait of at least two weeks between ordering and receiving your farm fresh meat. As there is time between ordering, selling the whole animal, booking in for processing, hanging and delivery.
Tips to avoid scams on Farm Fresh Meat
So if you find yourself in a messaging conversation about farm fresh meat, my tip is to SLOW IT ALL DOWN.
Do a bit of detective work to do your best to make sure that you will get what you think you are getting.
Ask these questions
Do your double checks on the farms real name, the facebook page name, the website name, the email address. Do they all match up? Or are they like or similar? But not exactly the same.
Do they have a website?
Are they recently and regularly active on their social media?
Can you speak with a real farmer?
Does the information you are reading clear? Does it sound like a “bot” or “AI” or just not quite right.
Is this deal really far too good to be really true?
