Something exciting happened last week! More Jamie Oliver inspo coming : Grass Fed Beef NEXT!
Well something very exciting happened last week! Well very exciting for me anyway!
If you have been following along, you would know that I have been loving cooking up recipes from the Jamie Oliver "Save with Jamie" Recipe book I borrowed from the library. It's a recipe book that focused on whole animal cooking, creative use of leftovers, reducing food waste and just amazing flavours.
Especially the Lamb.
The Punchy Crunchy Lamb Noodle Salad (find here) was just so good. The zesty dressing is just the thing for a hot summer night.
And the Mothership Sunday Roast Lamb. With an amazing Mint Sauce, that has brought back childhood memories and makes me oh so delighted that our mint pot is now blooming it's head off.
The recipe book was borrowed and re-borrowed from the library. With pages looking well loved and some sauce splatters on pages. If your a home cook, you will know what I mean. But eventually the librarian looked over his glasses and said "it will need to be returned". Across this time, I have been scouring thrift and second hand book shops in the hope of finding my own copy. I found a copy of every other Jamie Oliver cook book, but not the one I was after. I could photocopy off the recipes I really wanted. But it's just not the same as a real book.
Well. We went away at start of January for a little family time in our little a caravan up the River Murray. We had a wonderful time enjoying fishing, swimming, bike rides, walks along the river, reading books. All the wonderful and as good as free things, that we really should be including more into our everyday lives, instead of just saving them for holidays.
My whole family knows of the hunt for this recipe book. They have noted and often joked of my growing stack of Jamie Oliver recipe books on our kitchen hutch. Mind you, they are benefiting from this recent obsession. With delicious Jamie Oliver recipes flying out of our kitchen on the regular over the past few months!
And it was there, in this sweet little thrift shop on a super hot Summers afternoon that I spotted it. I let our an audible "OMG" that made Mister Farmer think I had either spotted a snake or a mouse. And there it was. A real life copy of the Jamie Oliver Recipe book that I had been searching for, for months. To say I was delighted is an understatement!
I am so excited to delve into the "Beef" section of the "Save with Jamie". I have got a Beef Brisket out of the freezer to cook the "Sunday Roast Brisket" recipe and use left overs for the Pulled Beef Salad with Kick-Ass Croutons. It feels so good to know that two, most likely three meals are sorted.
Keep your eye on your inbox for this coming up soon.
The garden is ramping up (with our 10 million tomato plants Master Farmer planted from self-seeded ones)!
So there is lots of yummy cooking from my country kitchen coming ahead.
I hope that you too have had some time to slow down and do what you love this Summer.
Look forward to seeing you at our next Farmers Market,
Love to you all, Misses Farmer X
